Sol de Janeiro: Bum Bum Cream or Beija Flor?
Sol de Janeiro products have become a staple in my beauty routine. First, it was the Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, which is promoted as a skin-tightening body cream. Then, a few years later, the brand introduced Beija Flor Elasti-Cream, which is a skin-firming cream that can boost the elasticity of your skin.
Now that it’s time to restock my body creams, I’m racking up. But which one would you choose? Here’s a glimpse of what both Sol de Janeiro body creams can offer, so you can determine which one you’ll love the best.
About Sol de Janeiro
When Heela Yang and Camila Pierotti started Sol de Janeiro, they were unsure if there was even a market for luxury body products. But after its launch in 2015, the brand won us over with Brazilian-style products that aim to reduce cellulite, smooth the skin, lift and firm the butt, which they lovingly refer to as a bum bum (pronounced boom-boom). In Portuguese, Sol de Janeiro means Sun of January — which is a time where the sun reaches its highest point during Brazilian summers.
After Brazilian Bum Bum Cream hit stores and catapulted its success, the brand claims to still sell a tub of the product every 14 seconds. Since then, it has created several body care products inspired by the addictive scent of the Bum Bum Cream (Cheirosa 62), and more.

Which body cream by Sol de Janeiro is my favorite?
After a long, hot bath or a steamy shower, it’s tough having to choose between the two body creams. In Brazil, a hummingbird is referred to as “beija flor,” or flower kisser. The Beija Flor Elasti-Cream caresses my body with a soft, smooth floral scent, which is great for the evening. On the other hand, the Brazilian Bum Bum cream is a burst of energy, and it’s packed with caffeine and guaraná extract, making it the perfect body cream to start the day off with.
Now that Sol de Janeiro has released its Bum Bum Firmeza Body Oil, using this in combination with the Bum Bum Cream elongates the sweet Cheirosa 62 scent — making it last for hours.
Smooth like butter.

Pros of Sol de Janeiro Body Creams:

- Great for scent layering
Cons of Sol de Janeiro Body Creams:
- Pricy
- Does not visibly firm skin as advertised
- Limited sizes available (larger tubs are seasonal)
What I love about the scent found in the Beija Flor body cream is its feminine and powdery scent. It is great for layering with floral fragrances and since it isn’t as robust as the fragrance found in the Bum Bum Cream. However, I receive the most compliments when I apply the Brazilian Bum Bum Cream. In addition, I use the Bum Bum Cream on a consistent basis, unanimously making it my favorite among the two.
