Sephora recently introduced Sol de Janeiro’s latest product, Bum Bum Firmeza Body Oil, which was far too enticing not to try.

The brand is known for its vegan-friendly, paraben-free, and sustainably sourced Brazilian-inspired beauty and skincare products that smell like a tropical vacation. Some of my personal favorites from Sol de Janeiro that are a staple in my skincare regime are:

I have officially added Bum Bum Firmeza Body Body Oil to the lineup and here are my reasons why.

About Sol de Janeiro

In 2015, Heela Yang and Camila Pierotti started Sol de Janeiro, even though they weren’t certain if the world was ready for luxury body products, like butt-firming cream, illuminating body cream, and body brightening cream. But the brand won us over with award-winning products like Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, which it still sells a tub of every 14 seconds. In Portuguese, Sol de Janeiro means Sun of January — which refers to a period that the sun reaches its highest point during Brazilian summers.

Why I love Bum Bum Firmeza Body Oil.

If you’ve ever tried Brazilian Bum Bum cream before, you’ve probably already fallen in love with its scent. While it isn’t as long-lasting as I’d hope for it to be on its own, the key is to use both, the cream and the oil together to boost the scent and keep it lasting longer throughout the day.

Pros of Bum Bum Firmeza Body Oil:

  • Great scent
  • Contains natural ingredients — guaraná caffeine. complex, and micro algae extract
  • Pairs well with other Sol De Janeiro products

Cons of Bum Bum Firmeza Body Oil:

  • The top breaks easily and it isn’t durable
  • Does not firm, as advertised
  • Costly (packaging is not high-end quality)

Like Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, Bum Bum Firmeza Body Oil uses the Cheirosa ’62 scent, which has hints of pistachio and salted caramel. These savory aromas combined with guarana and algae extract make this oil a great addition to my signature scent — and yours.
