On Wednesdays, the cast of Mean Girls still wear pink. But this year on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, consumers have the ability to shop and save on deals from major retail and wholesale company, Walmart, before the madness of the holiday begins. Who better to share this news with us than the artist behind the biggest hit from the Mean Girls soundtrack?

Missy Elliot makes her return in a modern-day Mean Girls-themed commercial in promotion of Walmart’s Black Friday deals. Missy made a comeback just to tell us, “If you have Walmart Plus, you will get three-hour early access to Black Friday deals.”

That’s it. That’s the message. Was it worth it (“let me work it” below)?

“While girl world was at peace, deal world was just getting started.”

– Cady Heron, Walmart Black Friday Commercial (2023)

“I saw Miss Heron buy AirPods and Legos…”

When the most popular parents in school have purchased a product or two, that’s a strong indication they may sell out fast.

In addition to AirPods and Legos, the Skullcandy Barrel Party Speaker were also a hot item Walmart highlighted in its 2023 commercial. If you’re thinking of picking up some of these items for yourself, check out some of the great deals they have available on Amazon.

Why It Works

Like great Black Friday deals, Mean Girls is a cult-favorite that never goes out of style. Not to mention, the popularity of some of our favorite Mean Girls characters may just be persuasive enough to entice viewers to make a purchase. When an influential creator who has a large following agrees to collaborate with a brand and promote its products or services, this type of marketing is known as influencer marketing.

According to a study, 82% of consumers have either purchased, researched, or considered purchasing a product or service after seeing friends, family or influencers promote it.
