I Work Remotely: Pros and Cons
There’s something very liberating about being able to work in your pajamas. But it also takes a lot of self-discipline to get up every morning and power through tasks while sitting in the comfort of your own home. After working remotely for over two years, I’ve become all too familiar with its advantages and complexities.
As I highlight the pros and cons of working remotely below, I hope it reinforces what we already know about remote-work culture and inspires in-office workers who are looking for a change to potentially make the switch.
Pros of Working Remotely
More Hours of Sleep
Controlled Environment
Work From Anywhere, Literally
Better Work/Life Balance
Toggle Off/On
Less Strain on Your Body
More YOU Time
It’s my computer and I. Just the two of us – working together to improve the greater good of something bigger than ourselves.
Cons of Working Remotely
Turbulent Technology
Watch Your Tone
Lack of Inspiration
Little to No Social Interaction
Too Comfortable
Virtual Parties
I work remotely and I like it, overall.
Life before working remotely was filled with unnecessary stress, anxiety, and I was always tired. Now that I don’t have to add time for a morning commute or an evening drive home, I can allocate more time towards doing the things I love with the people I love.
