Before you spend your hard-earned money, read this insightful House of Bō Nourishing Parfum Primer review to determine if it will be worth the buy, or if I smell a lie lie lie (Hint: See the star-rating above).

About House of Bō

House of Bō is the baby of Bernardo Möller and his partner, Giancarlo Perez This Miami-based company was launched on October 1, 2021, and it has a niche, gender-neutral fragrance line that aims to bridge the gap between body and soul. House of Bō received its name from the phonetic sound of beau — a French word meaning beautiful, which derives from the Latin term bellus, meaning pleasant. The word is also used to refer to a significant other in English.

The scoop on Nourishing Parfum Primer.

A primer is a cream applied to your skin’ surface for smoother application of a cosmetic product. The Nourishing Parfum Primer should be applied first, before you put on your perfume of choice. It comes in a 1.7 oz bottle, it’s unscented, and once it dries, it is undetectable. Once applied, it creates an invisible layer above your skin that can enhance your fragrance experience.

  • Aloe vera
  • Centella Asiatica
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Pomegranate extract
  • Vitamin E

The benefits of using a perfume primer.

Like face primers, using perfume primers (parfum primers) can have several advantages, including:

It prevents dilution of the scent.

It provides ultimate hydration.

It makes your fragrance last.

I tested the Nourishing Parfum Primer by House of Bō.

Most perfumes last around 4-5 hours, so if this product can make my new favorite fragrance last longer than usual, it will certainly be a win in my book. When I tested the Nourishing Parfum Primer’s lasting power, here’s what I discovered.

The Test

I tried using House of Bō Nourishing Parfum Primer to see if it could elongate the scent of one of my favorite fragrances, Gucci Flora Magnolia. Below is an outline of the process I used.

  1. I applied the primer to dry, clean areas on my body where I plan to add the fragrance and waited 30 seconds for it to dry.
  2. I sprayed the Gorgeous Magnolia fragrance on the right side of my body where I applied the primer.
  3. I sprayed the Gorgeous Magnolia fragrance on the left side of my body (without primer).
  4. I waited to see if the side with House of Bō Nourishing Parfum Primer would outlast the one without it.

Results

The scent on the side where I applied House of Bō Nourishing Parfum Primer lasted for a total of 8 hours. Here are some observations I had:

  • The scent began to fade on the left side (without perfume primer) around ≤4-hours
  • The scent began to fade on the right side (with perfume primer) around ≤7-hours
  • The areas of the skin where the House of Bō Nourishing Parfum Primer had been applied felt soft and supple

It takes work to smell good, when you don’t know what to use. But I believe I unlocked a serious fragrance hack here that’s way too impressive not to share with a friend. I would recommend House of Bō’s Nourishing Parfum Primer to anyone looking to elongate their favorite scent.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a perfume primer do?

Once a perfume primer is applied, it creates a thin layer that separates your skin from the pH level of the fragrance. This preps your skin with vitamins and nutrients before the fragrance chemicals are added to it. In addition, perfume primers prevent the fragrance from dissipating into the skin, which enables the scent to last hours longer than usual.

What is the difference between setting spray and primer?

While setting spray and primer may seem alike, they both have different purposes. Primers are applied to prep the base of your skin for a smooth and lasting product application. Primer, unlike setting spray, is made for other parts other than your face, like your body and lips.

Setting spray, on the other hand, seals makeup to keep it lasting longer. There are currently no setting sprays on the market for fragrances.
