Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Halle Bailey from the duo, Chloe x Halle, stars as Ariel in this 2023 remake of the 1989 Disney classic, The Little Mermaid. As the youngest daughter of King Triton, Ariel lived a blissful life under the sea with her friends Sebastian and Flounder, until she encountered a human for the first time, and curiosity about what life would be like above ground began to consume her.

Ariel is a siren with the voice of an angel. When she encounters Ursula, a wicked sea witch played by Melissa McCarthy, Ms. Red-Hair Don’t Care makes the ultimate sacrifice that could destroy her father’s kingdom and silence her forever — and for good.
